Melco Resorts & Entertainment has confirmed its interest in a casino project in Thailand by opening up a Bangkok office and partnering with Thailand’s National Soft Power Strategy Committee (THACCA).
Melco Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho, who has previously described casinos in Thailand as being a ‘generational opportunity,’ will be present at the first-ever THACCA Global Soft Power Talks event in February, which aims to elevate Thailand’s soft power to the global stage
Mr Ho said: “Melco’s success lies in our ability to combine luxury, culture and creativity to create transformative experiences. We are honored to collaborate with THACCA on this transformative journey. Thailand’s rich cultural heritage and creative potential make it a natural leader in soft power. Our role is to bring global expertise, foster knowledge exchange, and empower Thai talent to achieve their full potential on the international stage.”
Dr. Surapong Suebwonglee highlighted the significance of the event, stating: “The ‘THACCA Global Soft Power Talks’ is not just an event but a movement aimed at redefining how Thailand connects with the world. We are building a future where Thai creativity and innovation resonate globally, driving economic and cultural success for generations to come.”
The “THACCA Global Soft Power Talks” aligns with the government’s policy to unite stakeholders in the creative and cultural sectors, propelling Thailand toward becoming a global leader in soft power. It underscores the Thai government’s commitment to supporting the creative industries in 2024 through investments in digital infrastructure, tax incentives for creative sectors, and initiatives promoting Thai culture on the global stage. This program lays the foundation for sustainable growth in the digital and creative economy by fostering innovation and skill development in collaboration with businesses and educational institutions nationwide. It is expected to boost Thailand’s high-value tourism sector and drive long-term sustainable growth.
The February 24 event will feature renowned global speakers sharing insights, fostering partnerships, and opening opportunities for Thai students to apply for an intensive 3-month training program with world-class experts in creative hubs such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, and Macau.
