ДатаСенат, изследователски институт, свързан с бразилския Сенат, has released the results of a comprehensive public opinion survey on the regulation of responsible gambling and integrated resorts in Brazil. The national survey was taken at the request of Сенатор Ираджа in order to help with the deliberation of Законопроект № 2234 от 2022 г. which was  approved by the Chamber of Deputies in March 2022.

Between February 21 and March 1, 2025, 5,039 citizens were interviewed by phone, selected through stratified random sampling of the Brazilian population aged 16 or older, that is, among more than 170 million people (170,859,100). The national survey interviewed Brazilian women and men aged 16 or older (170,859,100 people) about Bill No. 2234 of 2022, under discussion in the Federal Senate, which deals with the legalization, regulation, and oversight of games, such as bingo halls and video bingo, the street lottery game животинска игра (the animal game), and casinos.

At the end of the interviews, already aware of the context and the main proposed measures, the majority (60% or 102,231,519 people) of Brazilians expressed support for the bill under discussion in the Federal Senate. On the other hand, another 34% of the population said that they were opposed to the bill.

The survey also found that a significant portion of the Brazilian population—over a quarter (26% or approximately 44,256,347 individuals) of those aged 16 and older—expressed interest in participating in legalized and regulated gaming activities, such as bingo halls, video bingo, casinos, and the animal game. This demographic represents the group most directly impacted and potentially benefited by the proposed legislative changes, should they be enacted. This figure accounts for the combined interest in all three gaming modalities, recognizing that individuals may be inclined to participate in more than one type of game.

Three out of four Brazilians question the effectiveness of the current prohibition on gambling activities, such as restrictions in place on bingo halls, casinos, and the animal game. When assessing public sentiment regarding the impact of these prohibitions on reducing the availability of illegal gaming, only a quarter (25% or approximately 42,066,746 individuals) said that they believed that such measures significantly curtail the supply of these activities.
